LIVING A FULL LIFE (part 2)
What does it mean to live a "full" life?

Last week, the article was entitled, "What does it mean to live a 'full' life?" I want to build upon this idea by considering the first book of the Bible, GENESIS. No matter where you are in your life's journey, the book of Genesis has a powerful message for each of us. And for each of us, there is an important choice to make.

Genesis opens with the words, "In the beginning God....." The book ends where most men and women finish their lives: it comes to a close in a coffin.

"So Joseph died at the age of a hundred and ten. And after they embalmed him, he was placed in a coffin in Egypt."
(Genesis 50:26)

Charles Swindoll in The Living Insights Study Bible notes that your life can end in a coffin. Period. End of story. Or it can begin by considering the Person of Jesus Christ who said, "I have come that all may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10)." The Cross can make all the difference in the world! The place where Jesus paid the ransom so that the human race could come out from underneath the sentence of condemnation brought on the human race through the disobedience of one man! The choice is for each person to make. We can reject Him. We can run to Him. We can let Him tear down the walls. He wants to offer each of us a second birth, a fresh start, a new beginning! So as we reflect upon the final words of the book of Genesis, remember: The only way to get beyond the coffin is through the cross. Genesis is the place of the first beginning, and Jesus Christ is the place of new beginnings!

Oh, just one more thought: Ever heard of the "Tower of Babel" - found in Genesis 11? History keeps repeating itself because we don't learn from it. Some people are still trying to build towers - their own Babels - in their arrogant and futile attempts to make a name for themselves, to set a self-centered direction for their lives and to climb up to God in their own strength. It didn't work in the days of Genesis, and it doesn't work now. God is in the business of breaking down our towers and building bridges to draw us back to Him. In the event that you may be interested, the bridge is the person of Jesus Christ - He would love to become your "bridge" connecting you to the Heavenly Father.
