DOES OUR WORLD SPEAK?
"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands
Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge
There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard
Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world"
Psalms 19:1-4
How would you respond if someone gave you a beautiful watch? Don't limit yourself to imagining some ordinary old timepiece; rather, envision it as being the most superb watch you had ever laid eyes on! An adornment fit for royalty, one might say! One question you would likely ask upon receiving such a gift would be: "Where did you get this?" Suppose the giver responded with a shrug of the shoulders and a comment such as "Oh, it didn't come from anywhere." Would you accept this answer? It had to have come from somewhere and as you are expected to wear it, you would like to know! No one in their right mind would ever believe that the watch simply "appeared."
We live in a world far more beautiful and complex than a simple wristwatch. And yet, millions of us waltz through life without the thought that there may be a creator behind it all. Such ideas raise fears because they suggest a need for submission or accountability. The Bible shows us that we observe things of beauty in the world in order that they may point us towards God. The next time you step out your front door consider the scenery around you. Gaze upon the stars tonight. Reflect upon their immensity and ask yourself: If you would reject the idea of there being no watchmaker, why would you dismiss the notion of there being a world maker. For just a moment, cast aside your fears and listen; listen to what the heavens and earth declare.
"Since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities: his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."
Romans 1:20
