Subject: Ouellette Update (c/w photos)(There is Thai writing in this email. But if it didn't come through, you will likely have something that will probably look like symbols & punctuation marks!). - fixed! (web maintainer)
Hello Everyone!
Where have you been?Since we last wrote we have been to Bangkok, Lopburi and Chonburi. Some highlights of our adventures:
- Greg completed 2 language checks while in Lopburi.
- Silas received a new passport in Bangkok.
- We experienced a Thai safari, slept in tents, and had a great first-time retreat with all of the MBMSI workers in Thailand!
A "less-than-highlight-moment" was finding a giant poisonous centipede in our kids tent!!!! Yikes!!! (sorry, no pictures...). We are thankful that Greg "handled" the situation (no more centipede) and that God protected all of our kids for the several hours that they shared their tent with the (horrible) creature.
Meanwhile, back in Phuket...In the past month, 3 of our Thai friends have been in the hospital. They have all now returned home, the most recent one just today. We know many of you have prayed for our family's health, and we are so grateful to God for the good health He has given us. Please join us in praying that God will give health and strength to these dear friends of ours - and that He will receive all the glory as He restores these ones that He loves.
We are challenged to take more opportunities to pray for people - the challenge is not in praying, but in praying in Thai! May God give us His words for the people we encounter.
What's happening next??Well, the kids are all finished home school for this year, soooo it's time for a little break! We are taking a family vacation next week (and a half), and then the following week is our annual OMF conference in central Thailand. Next thing you know, it will be July!
A while back we mentioned that we were looking at transitioning from homeschooling to putting our kids into local schools here in Phuket. Some of you have asked what's happening with that! Wow, we feel like its been a long journey in figuring this out. We have looked into so many different options! After praying and exploring the options, we are drawn toward a couple schools that do a combination of Thai and English teaching, so there is a level of understanding which makes the whole possibility viable for our kids. Since these schools are predominantly Thai, it's also a great opportunity for our kids to connect with the language and culture and make some friends. We are hoping that they will be able to start in July sometime. We know that God will guide us in this.
Thanks for praying for the fruit stand ministry. We continue to meet with people there every Monday night. A lady named Pian is searching for answers about who God is.
Thanks too for the encouraging words regarding the prison ministry we mentioned in an earlier email. Becky and I and a few of our team members will be starting to go into the local prison the first week of July. We are looking forward to that!
...so thanks for tuning in with the Phuket Ouellettes once again!! We hope your computers were able to receive the Thai font that we sent...just to give you a little sample of this beautiful language that we are all learning.
May God Bless you,
Greg and Becky and childrenGreg, Becky, Caleb, Emma, Luke and Silas
