Subject: Ouellette Update (c/w photos)TEMPERATURES IN LOPBURI
The four day forecast calls for temperatures from 38 - 40 degrees Celsius. I think it is safe to say hot season has arrived!! A cold shower is a beautiful thing (not to mention frequent!) We are surviving thus far...appreciating our fans and the AC unit in our bedroom more and more as the temperatures keep rising.
EXCITEMENT IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD
It was a regular Saturday morning. We dropped the kids off at school just before 8 am and then headed to the language school for our 8:00 classes. There are 2 routes that we can choose from to get to school. One is a more busy "city" route, and the other a bit more "rural". We chose the "rural" route and soon noticed a crowd gathered beside the road. Not a typical sight on this quiet little road. Not a lot of time to spare before classes would start and something in me (Becky) wondered if it was a snake-related episode - the final confirmation in my mind to not stop but keep going to school! We arrived at school to hear our team leader asking, "Did you see the snake?". (Yes, I had made the right decision). He had just traveled the same road moments before us. ...and no, we missed seeing the snake. My dear husband looked disappointed! Thankfully, Rob had the whole story and pictures to match. A 12 foot long python was caught in the process of eating a full grown chicken. ...I took the "city" route home from school today.
CONNECTING WITH FRIENDS
Caleb and I (Greg) recently had the privilege of attending a wedding / renewal of vows ceremony of two people from North Langley Church! It was beautiful... held on the banks of the Chao Phrya River in Bangkok. We thoroughly enjoyed connecting with the family of the bride. Thanks for the invite Naiyana and Stephen! (And thank you North Langley for the treats you sent our way through them!).
This past week we enjoyed the company of Mindy Barkman... a TWU grad! She was on spring break from teaching English in Japan and stopped over in Thailand for a while. It was great to reconnect... and she wasted no time jumping in to the community here. Our kids really enjoyed having her around and we sure appreciated the help she gave in the older kids' school.
A NEW OPPORTUNITY
We invite you to pray for Greg and I as we teach in the local anubaan (primary school) April 18-27. The 3 - 5 years olds are attending a summer program at which we will be teaching English pronunciation skills! (something we have some expertise in:)) Please pray not only for our energy levels, creativity, and ability to continue to move forward in our own language studies, but pray also that as we go into this school we would take the presence of the God of the universe with us. The God who made heaven and earth, Canadians and Thais alike. We believe He longs to meet with the students, teachers and families represented at this local school. Some might say, "you're just teaching some English classes", but we desire to be faithful to the opportunities God gives us though this invitation.
HAPPY EASTER!
Jesus is risen!! ........ He is risen indeed!
Thank you for being a blessing to our family,
Becky & Greg
