Subject: Ouellette Update (c/w photos)SUMMER HOLIDAYS ALREADY?!
The Thai school system has just completed another year, and summer is definitely upon us!! Hot season in all its stickiness and sweat is here, and still increasing. I (Becky) find myself going to bed earlier and earlier as my energies are completely sapped by the heat. It really does make sense to go to bed early and get up early, as mornings are really quite pleasant so far...
FIRST TEAM RETREAT IN THAILAND
We spent March 1 - 5 together as a team at a wonderful retreat home in Prachuap, Khiri Khan. We let our language lessons go for these 5 days and focused again on team building and planning for our future ministry together in South Thailand. We really enjoyed having extended times of worship, discussion, praying and playing!! We came away refreshed and encouraged once again that God saw fit to bring us together at this time for this specific purpose. We have a great team!! It's hard to believe that we have known each other for only one year!
DIRECTION FOR OUR TEAM
Our team retreat was also a time to share with each other how God has been speaking and leading each of us in regard to our future in South Thailand. We are excited that the geographic area that we are feeling led to is narrowing, not to a specific point exactly, but more like a specific line. Although we don't feel like God is leading us to live on the little island that MBMSI connected with just after the tsunami, we feel like we want to stay close enough to it that we can continue to support and encourage the work that God is doing there. We also feel like our team is too big to all settle in one location, so we are looking at a series of towns that are just south of this original point of contact, stretching between Koh Kho Kao (the island) and central Phuket Island.
All this to say that we are encouraged! God is speaking and leading us together as a team, and it is an exciting journey!! Please continue to pray that the very neighbourhood that God has for us would become clear also. We look forward to visiting these specific towns in the near future. We will keep you posted!
A SPECIFIC PRAYER REQUEST
We are feeling good about continuing with home schooling the kids for the next school year and so we have need of another teacher to come join us from September 2007 to June 2008. We are even wondering about 2 teachers coming together? We only have 7 students, but 5 different age groups makes for a pretty challenging assignment for one teacher! Would you pray with us that God would provide 2 wonderful teachers to join us for the upcoming school year. We were pretty amazed and encouraged by the way God provided Karen Unger to teach our kids for this year. She has been such a huge blessing to us! We love her!! We know that we will need to continue spending a large portion of our time studying Thai as we settle into our new location this fall, so we are aware that teaching the kids in the midst of all of that would be quite overwhelming. We have great faith that God has heard and will continue to hear your and our prayers. Let's expect great things!!!
PRESSING ON
We continue to commit our days to studying Thai. Thank you for all of the encouragement that you send our way to help us stay focused on this task. There are so overwhelmingly many people in Thailand that have never heard of Jesus before. We are convinced that the time we spend studying this language will be worth every minute as God provides opportunities to share the greatest message of hope and love with these wonderful, yet lost people.
JESUS LOVES THAILAND!!Love,
