Subject: Ouellette Update (c/w photos)...Our first hot season rapidly approaches. I know that this is going to be a real challenge for us Canadian folks, but we are confident that the "all things" that we can do through Christ who strengthens us, includes enduring the hot temperatures that we are expecting to begin in early March.
VISITORS IN THAILAND!!
A few weekends ago we went to Bangkok and had the privilege of spending time with friends who were passing through. The first evening was spent with friends I had met in high school! The next two days were spent with another missionary family that we had the privilege of getting to know in our old neighborhood (Palm Crescent) before we came to Thailand. The kids were so excited to spend time with their friends. This was a special blessing for our family!
We also had a team of young adults from Willow Park Church in Kelowna spend some time with us here in Lopburi. They just finished a challenging 6 month-term serving in northern India. It was a privilege to be able to host this quality team for a few days and to hear some of the things God did in them and through them.
40 DAYS OF PRAYER
Our team has had two really encouraging 24 hour prayer vigils together over the past few months. As a result of our last one, we have agreed as a team to take part in 40 days of prayer. We continue to ask God to confirm His plans for our team, and also seek to be a team that has clean hands and pure hearts before our Lord. We are so grateful for the prayers of so many that have carried us so many times in the past 5 months. We feel that God has called us to be a team that is committed to prayer - for the Thai people around us, and for the purposes of God in all of our lives. We feel like students and learners in every way as we seek to step into the things God has for us here.
FEELING SETTLED
When we first arrived in Thailand, we were at times overwhelmed with the "differentness" of life here. As we are approaching 6 months of living in Thailand I am reminded of those initial feelings - and how they have changed! It no longer surprises us to see 3 or 4 people riding on a motorcycle (including young children and sometimes the family pet!). It no longer seems strange to ride our bikes home from the local market with our handlebars heavy-laden with fruits and vegetables and bags of fresh eggs - the handle bars being a safer spot than the front basket - especially with the bumpiness of the roads...! The sea of sounds around us that at first seemed soooo foreign are now filled with familiar words and phrases (though far from being easy to decipher entirely). Our team that we really didn't know very well at the beginning has truly become our family here in Thailand. God has been so gracious towards us. He continues to enable us to feel at home in Thailand.
PRAYER
- Please continue to pray for our children. Rest assured, they have not forgotten their family and friends! ...please pray that God would be their comfort when they are missing Canada.
- It has been fun to see them pick up Thai phrases and try them out! Please pray for all 6 of us, that we would remember what we learn, and not be hesitant to use it!
- Pray for our neighbourhood - the way that you would pray for yours.
- Pray that we would hear what God speaks to us as we seek him about our future ministry location.
Thank-you so much for the emails you send and the prayers you pray on our behalf.
We appreciate you,
Becky and Greg
