Subject: Ouellette Update (c/w photos)Feeling Refreshed!
Our family really enjoyed spending the first week of January resting and playing together. We travelled to Bangkok and Prachuap (a quaint fishing town south of Bangkok on the Gulf of Thailand). The 2hr train trip to Bangkok was incredibly crowded - a bit of a cultural experience for us (!!!). There was just enough room to squeeze a family of six and their bags onto the stairs of the train ...or maybe there was still room after that? Our definition of "capacity" has definitely been altered since arriving here 4 months ago...
Exciting news too is that we celebrated Emma's 9th birthday during this break (Jan. 7th)!
New Beginnings...
Half of our family started Thai school last week. It is a private Kindergarten school (aka "Anubaan") close to our house that is for children aged 3 - 6. One of our neighbors (who came to our open house) is the principal there, and said that she would be willing to have our children come. Luke and Silas qualify ...and Greg has decided to join them! He will take advantage of this opportunity to learn more Thai, and help our little guys adjust to the Thai school system at the same time. They go together 3 mornings a week, and have added to the life of the school simply by being there! (They are the only "farang" / foreigners there). Becky will be teaching Luke Kindergarten (in English) the other mornings of the week. While the boys are delighted to have Daddy with them, we would appreciate your prayers for them - that they would settle into this new routine, make some friends, learn some Thai, and enjoy themselves while doing it! We hope they (Luke & Silas, that is) will be ready to "make it on their own" when the new Thai school year starts in May. Please pray that God would continue to give Greg and I energy to keep moving forward with our Thai studies too.
Our children's (amazing) teacher, Karen Unger, has recently returned from Canada and, this week, is starting up the new "semester" with the rest of the children on the team. We are so grateful for her! Please pray for her this week as she re-adjusts to Thai culture and settles back into her classroom on the other side of the world.
Exciting Opportunities...
Several of our team members took scouting trips to south Thailand during the break. We have heard reports from the 2 trips and are looking forward to another 24 hour prayer vigil later this week as we continue to listen to God and discern which of these areas He is calling us to. One group visited the city of Nakhon Si Thammarat (east coast), while the other visited Phuket Province. Both areas have great potential for ministry. We invite you to join with us as we pray this coming Thursday 6pm - Friday 6pm (Thai time). We are again coming to God to LISTEN. ...and we are continuing to ask Him to show us the area He has for us and direction for future scouting trips. We invite you to pray with us!
Thank you for partnering with us. We are excited to see where God will lead us and look forward to sharing the journey with all of you!

God bless you!The Ouellettes
