PRIVACY ISSUES
"Like almost everyone who uses e-mail, I receive a ton of spam every day. Much of it offers to help me get out of debt or get rich quick. It would be funny if it weren't so exciting."
- Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft (World's richest man!)
Most of us receive email spam - unwanted solicitations and annoyances - daily. While some might be amusing, some of it is offensive and some of it is downright dangerous. One of the latest trends is to send email that mimics a valid site (eg. a bank) and tries to trick people into revealing personal banking numbers, etc. With identity theft such a huge problem, unwanted spam should be reduced as much as possible. Some numbers released by the computer community indicate that the amount of email traffic on any given day is likely in excess of 80% spam!
EnjoyLife.ca makes the following commitments to your privacy:
- no personal information is collected. Period.
- the website does not use "cookies" on your computer to track anything!
- all email addresses (missionaries, personal, etc.) are encrypted using Javascript. This makes it very difficult (impossible?) for automated searching programs (bots) to harvest valid email addresses. The address cannot be read until the user clicks on the link (example: ) which then opens the user's own email program. Also, the text displayed ("click here", in the example) is not really present in the HTML page (it is generated on the fly), so it cannot be read by normal means.
- private (home) addresses may be encoded, where possible, also in an attempt to avoid automated "gathering".
- messages and prayer requests sent to any of our email addresses remain confidential and are shared with no one.
Should you feel your individual (or corporate) privacy has been "compromised" by our placement of anything on this website - please email the web maintainer, , with your concerns.
