Dear praying friend,

Looks like we survived! (Sorry. Bad joke.) It has been a very busy last 6 months with the TREK Team, Action team and all the activities surrounding them. It has been very good. We trust we have influenced their lives. Please pray for each of them as they seek to discern God’s will for their futures. We are so impressed with how they came to serve.

Follow up. Please also pray for the follow up of the various contacts we have made in the last several months. Ask God’s Spirit to move in their lives to draw them to Jesus and convict them of their need for Him and His salvation.

Summer Kid’s Club. The program went very well with about 30 kids enrolled. The Action team, the Lutz family from Canada , and our church people worked really hard. Everyone served together well! One man from our church who took off time to help for one day said, “If we do this next year I’m taking 3 days off!” Another man did exactly that this year and said it was a blessing!

A good number of people showed up for the Sunday Service which saw the kids sing some songs in Japanese and English. We had testimonies, a narration of “The Dangerous Journey”, and many other things. Lunch was great too with many people visiting well into the afternoon.

Lutz family. Darice was in the youth group that Leona and I helped lead almost 25 years ago. Now she and her husband have 2 kids and go to Grace Point (MB) church in White Rock, BC. Darice has hosted Japanese exchange students so she has many connections in Japan , including one in Toyota City . Darice and Dale have been supporting us and our work here for many years. Their help with SKC this year was a big boost as the Action Team had only two members. Their experience in children’s ministry was a major asset.

Vacation. In an hour or so we (are supposed to) leave for a break. Brandon is with us and we are going to our favorite place in Japan ( Brandon says in the WORLD!) Pray that our 2 weeks there will be relaxing, refreshing and very enjoyable.

Church family. Please continue to pray for our church family and the individuals with various needs. Sometimes we wonder how we can really go away for a vacation! The daughter in the dysfunctional family is probably going to move into “Grace House” (the house next door) for a while to see if a bit of space and distance will help their family. Mrs. Katoh enjoyed serving during SKC. Yesterday she invited some ladies to her new house!

Well, I need to go pack! Thanks so much for your prayers.

Blessings to you!
Laurence (and Leona) Hiebert
