Dear praying friend,

Mission Meetings in Canada.

Leona and I traveled to Abbotsford for a Country Team Leaders’ Summit arranged by MBMS International. In the sessions we received valuable input and were pleased to spend time with other missionaries from our mission. The presentations by Johannes Reimer were particularly encouraging and insightful, giving us ideas on how to continue our task of analyzing the Japanese context in order to present the Gospel more effectively. We are grateful for a safe trip home. Thanks for your prayers.

Baptism.

Mr. Nakaoji is looking forward to declaring his allegiance to Jesus on April 13 when he gets baptized. We ask that you continue to pray for assurance of salvation, spiritual growth and the filling of God’s Spirit in his life. He has made so much progress in the area of depression and attributes it to God and the prayers of His people.. Interestingly his name means “middle son of the king.” Thanks for praying for the King’s son.

TREK Team.

These 6 young ladies have made good progress in adjusting to life in Japan. We are pleased to see their excitement and pleasure in getting involved in ESL classes and getting to know our church people. Pray that we will get a few more students for the special classes they are teaching. Also ask for God’s direction as we try some “random acts of kindness” in the coming weeks.

Trenton.

Leona and Trenton met with Trenton’s Neuro-educational-developmentalist 2 weeks ago and were pleased to see that he has made very good progress in the last 9 months. We are so grateful to God for this. We continue to trust God to provide for Trenton’s educational needs here in Japan, as come September his school will not offer grade 9. Please join us in praying for and anticipating God’s provision!

Cambria.

In just over 2 months she will finish grade 11. She continues to enjoy her friends at school as well as playing piano and singing in the school choir. Recently the school teacher, who has been critical of Christians and missionary children, complimented her in her essay by saying he was impressed with the maturity of her faith. Thank you Jesus!

Brandon.

Later this month Brandon will complete his second year of studies at Bethany College and move back to Calgary, where he is looking for a summer job. He hopes to visit us in Japan later in the summer before beginning his studies at University of Calgary. Pray for God’s clear guidance for him as he looks for a job and seeks to know God’s will for his future.

Laurence and Leona.

We are thankful to God for each other and the 25 years of married life He has given us. We continue to love each other deeply and look forward to many more years together. Yes we agree with those who say marriage can get better over the years! We continue to marvel at what God has done in Japan, using weak and marred vessels like us for His glory.

We thank you for your prayers, support, and encouragement. We are grateful that our support level looks very good. May God bless you!
