Update from the Hieberts
Dear praying friend,
One-third of our MINA (Ministry In North America) and study leave is over! We are settled in “our home” here in Calgary and are grateful to God for His many good gifts to us. Our three kids have adjusted well to their schools and are making progress.
We are well into our church visits and enjoying them. It is a privilege to share what God has done/is doing in Japan. It is encouraging and a real honour to meet those who have been praying for us and supporting us during our years of service in Japan.
Because we have so much on our hearts that we’d like to share we are trying to use every opportunity to report as much as we can in each of our churches. In most cases we’d like to have more time. From what people are saying, it seems God is using what we share to encourage them, inform them of what is happening in Japan and also build a vision for mission around the world in their hearts.
We ask that you continue to pray for Pastor and Mrs. Kurokawa, the retired Japanese Pastoral couple who is serving in our church this year. Also pray for our church people, our many contacts, and ESL students. Remember to uphold Karis who is assisting in the work there and the other 5 MBMS International missionaries in Nagoya and Osaka.
Through the various reports from Toyota City, we hear that several people are not coming to church services anymore. Others are sporadic in attendance and seem to be discouraged. So please pray for them that they would feel the deep need to meet with God and His people and have the resolve to participate. Ask the Lord to meet them in a special way. Pray also for their release from the pressures and constraints that keep them from following Jesus freely.
Next week I will travel to Chicago to take a class at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Pray for as safe and on schedule flight and a profitable time of study. (Last month on our way to and from Fresno our flights were cancelled, rescheduled, rerouted, etc., meaning we were delayed by 6, 10 and 24 hours)
In a day or so we will email you a copy of the new cards we have printed for the Christmas season and invite you to consider using them as Christmas Cards for your family, church or business. They feature two pencil art drawings by Leona.
Sincerely in Christ
