Hieberts back in Canada

Dear praying friend,

Hi from Canada! Yes, we have been in Canada for just over two weeks now and are over jetlag and are adjusting to everything over here. We are glad that we can send email again. It took about two weeks to find someone who could make the technical adjustments on our Japanese computer so we could send email over here! So here goes!

MINA. Our Ministry in North America (MINA) has begun. Laurence spent two days at the Canadian MB Church convention in Calgary. Now we have spent a week in Abbotsford meeting with various MBMS International Team Leaders and office staff. Tomorrow Laurence travels to Chicago for a course and Leona is looking forward to spending time with her mother and siblings during that week. Then we will be in Abbotsford for one more week before leaving for Calgary on August 5. We plan to buy a vehicle then.

SKC. Back in Toyota City our church people are working hard to make the last minute preparations for Summer Kids' Club (or Day Camp), which will be held this week and end with a big presentation on Sunday morning. A YMI Action Team of 5 young adults is there to help. Pray for health and effective ministry on their part and a unified and energetic effort by our church people there. Please also pray that 30 children will enroll and that they will meet Jesus this week and bring their families to the Sunday program. Our aim is that our church will gain some families through this week's activities.

ESL Teacher. The Japan MB Conference is still in need of one more ESL teacher willing to serve for 2 or more years. Please contact us immediately or an MBMS International office near you.

Schooling for Trenton. After waiting for several months to find out if our children would be able to go to the same school they attended 3 years ago, we just found out that they do not have room for Trenton. This is a major disappointment for us. Apparently there are several others in grade 7 who have learning difficulties so one more would be too much for that class. At this stage our options are limited: either a large public school or an expensive private school for students with learning disabilities. Please pray for wisdom as to know which will be best for Trenton. He is one of the reasons we planned a one year MINA/Study Leave. We want to know what God wants. Please pray with us.

Brandon going to Bethany College. Brandon is excited to be going to Bethany College this September. It will be a great opportunity for him to grow spiritually, adjust to life in Canada, make new friends, and enjoy music. He's hoping to be part of a praise band there. His parents are excited that he is going there, but are a little shy to say that when he enters it will already be 30 years since they enrolled there! Pray for a fun and enriching time for Brandon and grace for Mom and Dad as they watch their first child leave home.
